MEXICO TOWARD THE GOLDEN CUP

On June 2 the National Soccer Team of Mexico played a friendly match against Iran. Without Mexico starter line, the team stood up and won 4 to 0. It was and easy game but improvement can be made before the Golden Cup starts on June 8. There were surprises on the starting team, like Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa, goalkeeper of Club America and the most controversy player Nery Castillo. Nery won the appreciation of the coach, Hugo Sanchez after the game with Iran. Even thou Nery did not score he was always after the ball trying to give game to him and his teammate. Nery, like other important player could change Mexico offensive method and maybe even get Mexico the finals of the Golden Cup and the America Cup.

WAR BETWEEN RIVALS

Club Deportivo of Guadalajara and Club America are the two team with most national cup won in Mexico. Chivas leading with 11 national cup "1956-1957, 1958-1959, 1959-1960, 1960-1961, 1961-1962, 1963-1964, 1964-1965, 1969-1970, 1986-1987, 1997, 2006" and America with 10. But in the field it isn't all about who has more cups won and who has less, its more about the pride of the jersey, the institution, the colors, the passion of the game and prove who is best. No team will give the other the opportunity to score a goals on them they will play till the end. When these two rival confront, its a game no Mexican will ever miss. The stadium get full even if the tickets are expensive. Best friends become rival for only the two hours of a tense game. The street become silent and when its over some cry other are cheerful but every thing return back to normal.

CLUB DEPORTIVO OF GUADALAJARA

Club Deportivo of Guadalajara, also known as Guadalajara and usually referred to by its nickname Chivas (Goats), is one of the best team in Mexico. Club Deportivo Guadalajara was founded in 1906 by a Belgian shopkeeper, Edgar Everaert, as Club Unión, but became Club Deportivo of Guadalajara A.C. in 1908. On Thursday the 30th of September of 1948 during a match against "Tampico" at "Parque Oro de Guadalajara", the newspaper column derisively said that the goats (chivas in spanish) had won; this name, which started as an insult, was embraced by the fans and is held with pride to this day. The insult was meant to say that the team did not play very well, and they just ran around like crazy goats. After winning their first title, the Cardinal of Guadalajara held a mass in their honor the next day and gave the team his blessing. Some considered changing the nickname from Chivas to Cardenales (Cardinals). But this was a short lived attempt. A compromise was reached. Given the team was blessed and many fans were of a religious nature, the team was seen as a holy relic. As a result, the team was given the nickname "El Rebaño Sagrado" (The Sacred Flock). The team is perhaps best known for the fact that they have only ever fielded Mexican players, and their fans even think the team itself is almost a synonym of what it means to be Mexican.Since they only let Mexican players in the team, they can't buy or trade players who weren't born in Mexico, however that doesn't mean the coach has to be Mexican.
